Senior Applied Scientist
About The Job
XYZ Reality are a leading Augmented Reality technology company based in London developing the world's first AR HMD for Construction that aims to eliminate 2D plans. This allows builders, for the first time, to walk on site and use AR/3D models to construct from start to finish enabling the possibilities to "Built it right, First time"
We are currently looking for a talented Applied Scientist to join our fast-growing R&D Team. The department are working with ground-breaking technologies and are all fearless innovators. If you want a challenge, to push the norm and take on the improbable (not impossible) then this could be for you.
This role will report directly into our Computer Vision Lead and will be working with our cutting-edge technology that created our product, the Atom.
Skillsets:
- Strong understanding of Computational Geometry (Rotations, projective geometry, quaternions)
- Experiencing in developing POSE estimation algorithms in varying robotic or AR settings (e.g. robotic hand eye calibration, and ADAS/Driverless cars, Space Robotics, industrial metrology)
- Experience with non linear solvers – Ceres, SciPy/mpfit
- Worked with filters (kalman, EKF, particle) for tracking
- Strong grasp of fundamentals: linear algebra, discrete and continuous optimization
- Programming skills in C or C++ (Mandatory) and Python (Bonus)
Example Experience Required (2 or more ideally):
- Improving the accuracy of position and orientation of a target in an outdoor or indoor environment using a variety of measurement modalities (example modalities: cameras, LIDAR)
- 3d Reconstruction
- Refining tracking estimates using filtering techniques including Kalman
- Using non linear solvers to refine POSE given measurements and estimates
- Written C/C++ data collection code for measurement devices such as Lidar, camera systems, TOF cameras, stereo cameras
- Algorithms for calculating/localising position on earth using satellite/radar information
- Written a non linear solver for homogenous and inhomogeneous systems of linear equations for localisation (Non-Convex optimisation) using a solver package like Ceres, SciPy, mpfit (e.g. bundle adjustment)
